Ordination Service Information for 2020 08 21
Prior to serving the Hartsville - Chapel Hill UMC charge, Rev. Abe Zimmerman had been on the journey of seeking ordination as a full elder in The United Methodist Church. It has been a long, challenging, and fruitful experience.
On Tuesday, August 18, 2020 during the virtual Clergy Session of the Tennessee Annual Conference, Pastor Abe was presented before the clergy of the conference and voted into full membership. This vote was the official final step of the ordination process. As a way to celebrate and consecrate, there is typically a Service of Licensing, Commissioning, and Ordination held in coordination with the annual conference that generally meets in June. Due to COVID-19, the annual conference was postponed to September.
In attempts to gather using the safest practices, the service was split into two parts and will be held THIS Friday with a limited number of attendees. While we are saddened for yet another celebration to be diminished by the current circumstances, we are grateful to have the opportunity for everyone to be present via a livestream option. You can join us on Friday, August 21 at 11 am CST by going here: https://www.tnumc.org/ac-livestream/. A recording that combines these worship services for licensing, commissioning, and ordination will be broadcast on September 18 at 7 pm.
We hope to celebrate Pastor Abe together at a later time when we are once again able to gather fully and safely.
